VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Claire Belle (Terrill) Berlendy, 70, formerly of LaVale, was called to be with God, on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at 3:33 p.m., at her daughter’s home in Virginia Beach, Va.

Born June 30, 1936, in Kansas City, Kan., she was one of ten children of the late Simeon and Gladys (Carlisle) Terrill.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph P. Berlendy; three sisters Viola Zito, Ella Granata, and Terry Martin; and three brothers Brack, Gene and Jack Terrill.

Claire was Baptist by faith. She resided in Virginia with her daughter Holly, son-in-law Ron, and grandson Ronnie Parker; enjoying Andrea Bocelli’s music, sitting at the fireplace, using her computer, and sitting on the swing in the backyard. She also wrote poems and verse for songs. Because of her dime collection, Claire’s nickname was “The Dime Queen”.

She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and devoted her life taking care of the needs of others, never thinking of herself, and following Christ’s example as a most patient, God-loving woman to all around her. Everyone who knew Claire knew God’s loving grace.

She is survived by one sister, Delores McKinzy and husband Iris, Beaumont, Texas, and two brothers; Steve Terrill and wife Barbara, Cresaptown, and Bob Terrill, Conroe, Texas; one daughter, Holly Parker and husband Ron, of Virginia Beach; and three sons, Jesse Berlendy and wife Kathy, of Virginia Beach, Emil Ber-lendy and Andrea Glant-schnig, Joe Berlendy and Ann Popp, all of Astoria, N.Y; four grandchildren, Ralph E. Rhodes Jr., Ronnie Parker, Kara Berlendy and Wyatt Berlendy, and many nieces and nephews, including Becky Goldsworthy and husband Paul, Cumberland.

Ms. Berlendy will be cremated in Virginia.

She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland.
