MacNamara fans 10 in 4-1 win;

NORTH EAST — Ryan MacNamara struck out 10 in Allegany’s 4-1 win over Cecil in the opening game of a doubleheader played Saturday in North East.

Cecil erupted for eight runs in the first inning of the second game to hand the Trojans a 14-4 loss for Allegany’s first Maryland JUCO Conference defeat.

MacNamara worked out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning, and allowed his only run on a Darrin Muse home run in the second. Brian Wild had the only other two hits for the Seahawks with two singles.

Allegany Head Coach Steve Bazarnic called MacNamara’s performance outstanding. “He threw well all game,” he said. “He did a great job of mixing up his pitches to stifle a pretty good hitting team.”

Cody Young gave the Trojans a 2-1 lead with a solo home run in the fifth inning, and Erik Kempton scored a run after hitting a double and a single.

Cecil got the eight runs in the first inning of the second game and ACM was never able to catch up. Bill Bretz accounted for half of the first inning runs with a grand slam. He added a single to his slam.

Bigbie Scott, and Brian Wild each finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Frank Lee, Jeff Crockett and Chris Emery all had two hits and one RBI.

A.J. Czap connected for a solo shot in the fifth inning for the Trojans final run. He also added a single, while Jerry Lloyd hit a two-run double in the first.

Joe McLaughlin struck out seven and allowed six hits while keeping the Trojans off-balanced.

Allegany (14-5, 7-1 JUCO) will play a doubleheader on Monday at West Virginia Wesleyan.
