McHENRY - Garrett pounded 40 hits - 20 in each game - in sweeping Montgomery-Rockville 22-8 and 16-9 in a Maryland JUCO Conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Garrett.
In the first game, Joe Wilt drove in four runs with a three-run homer and a double, while Zach Nair had four RBIs with three singles to lead Garrett, which scored 13 runs in the first inning. Kris Torrance and Garrett Rogers added a double and two singles to the Lakers' 20-hit attack. Rogers had three RBIs and Torrance sent in a pair of runs.
Cody Loomis went the five innings in the abbreviated game for the victory, allowing six hits.
Nair drove in four runs with a two-run homer, a double and single to power Garrett's 20-hit assault in the seven-inning second game.
Ricardo Cordido contribued a double and three singles and scored four runs. Tony Russo had a key hit with a base-clearing double in the sixth and also had a run-scoring single.
Garrett (13-11 overall, 3-2 in Maryland JUCO) will play a single game today at Potomac State at 3 p.m.
