Allegany powers past Southern Maryland

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany College of Maryland Trojans played longball Tuesday afternoon, hitting three home runs and making it pay off as they defeated Southern Maryland, 10-4, in a Maryland JUCO baseball game at The Rock.
Lee Bainbridge hit a home run, a double and knocked in three runs for Allegany, while Erik Kempton hit a solo homer and a single. Justin Portzline added a two-run home run to the Trojans’ 12-hit attack.
Cody Young tripled and singled twice to knock in two runs, and A.J. Czap had two singles.
Allegany took a 2-0 lead in the first, led 3-0 after three, 6-2 after six, and 9-2 after seven. Tyler Ramaley worked the first seven innings to get the win. He was relieved in the eighth by Dave Fringer, who went the rest of the way.
Chris Williford had three singles for Southern Maryland.
Allegany (17-7 overall, 8-2 Maryland JUCO) will play a doubleheader today, 2 p.m., at Catonsville.
