CATONSVILLE — Trouble in the field helped spell disaster for Allegany College as the Trojans lost to CCBC-Catonsville in a Maryland JUCO twinbill.
The Cardinals scored in every inning of the opener and Allegany committed six errors to compliment Catonsville’s 13 hits. Roland Askins helped cap scoring by slugging a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth.
Carlos Sanchez and Derek Wiser had three hits, with Sanchez hitting a RBI double and Wiser finishing with three runs batted.
Allegany, limited to three hits, got a double from Lee Bainbridge.
The second game saw Allegany make another six errors, but perform a little better at the plate. The Trojans collected nine hits and scored three runs, with Cody Young hitting a triple and two singles to drive in a run. A.J. Czap added two singles.
Catonsville jumped out quick again with seven runs through the first three innings. Jared Cozart had two hits and two RBIs, and Sanchez, T.J. Murphy and Kurt Thomas had two singles.
ACM (17-9, 8-4 JUCO) visits Garrett today in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
