Allegany regroups, wins 7-0

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

HAGERSTOWN - David Fringer played the role of stopper Tuesday afternoon as Allegany looked to get back on the winning path after hitting a dead period the last few weeks with a 7-0 win over Hagerstown.

Fringer worked a complete game, struck out five and didn't walk a batter until the eighth inning. He allowed 10 hits, but was able to scatter them over the nine innings.

"Dave pitched a masterpiece for us," said ACM coach Steve Bazarnic. "He gave the whole team a big lift. I don't think we played our best ball last week, and we are trying to play through some things right now so it was a game we needed."

The Trojans didn't take much time in getting on the board with three runs in the first and another three in the second.

Cody Young scored three times and drove in one with a double and two singles. Jerry Lloyd hit a two-run double in the second inning and had another RBI in the first, and Brad Kling had two singles and two RBIs.

Jacob Darr and David Szymenski had three hits for the Hawks. Matt Beyers finished with two.

"It was a good game for us," said Bazarnic. "It's always nice to get a road win over a conference team, but the timing was good for us. Hopefully we get things going with the win."

Allegany went 2-6 in its last eight games before Tuesday, and is now 20-13 overall and 11-5 in the Maryland JUCO.

The Trojans will play a make-up game today, 3 p.m. at Montgomery-Rockville.
