Hagerstown beats Garrett, 4-2

MCHENRY - Roland Thiele broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run home run in the eighth inning, and Hagerstown edged Garrett Wednesday afternoon in Maryland JUCO baseball.

Thiele was responsible for three of the four runs scored by the Hawks by adding an RBI single in the sixth inning to go with his homer in the eighth.

The Lakers got a 2-0 lead after scoring a run in the bottom of the first and another in the fourth. Hagerstown scored two in the sixth, including Thiele's single, to tie it before Thiele's homer in the eighth.

Garrett got runners on first and second with no one out, in the ninth but hit three straight fly outs to end the threat.

Scott Wilson hit a solo home run in the first inning for the Lakers, and added a single in the ninth.

Garrett (17-17-1, 6-7-1 JUCO) plays a single game with Potomac State, at home, on Friday.
