Ramaley fires no-hitter

Tyler Ramaley threw a no-hitter as the Allegany College of Maryland Trojans split a doubleheader at Westmoreland County on Thursday.

The Trojans won the first game, 10-0 in five innings, before falling late to the Wolfpack, 4-3, in the second game.

Ramaley had two strikeouts and allowed just two walks in getting the no-hit victory and improving his record to 4-1.

“We played great defense behind him,” said Allegany head coach Steve Bazarnic. “He kept them off-balance the whole time.”

The Trojans took a commanding 6-0 lead with a five- run second, then put the game away with three in the fifth. Cody Young led their nine-hit attack with three, including a triple and a double with two RBIs. A.J. Czap had a hit, a sacrifice fly and two RBIs while Lee Bainbridge and Jerry Lloyd each drove in a run off of two hits.

In the second game, Eric Bruno had two hits including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Wolfpack over the Trojans 4-3. Winning pitcher Casey Teagarden and Nick Hogue each had two hits.

Lee Bainbridge had two hits, including a double and an RBI. Bobby Hartman (3-5) gave up only two earned runs while allowing eight hits in going the distance.

Allegany (24-15 overall, 13-6 Maryland JUCO) visits Germantown for a Saturday doubleheader that begins at noon.
