CUMBERLAND - The game counted in the standings, but it didn't count in how it would effect either team's postseason schedule, so Hagerstown Community College and Allegany College of Maryland ran a combined 14 pitchers out to the mound in the regular-season finale for both teams, a 6-5 Maryland JUCO victory for the Hawks Tuesday at The Rock.
Charles Johnson hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to put the Hawks on the board and Hagerstown would score two more in the inning and three more in the eighth to secure the win.
Allegany had taken a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the fourth, and would add two more in the bottom of the ninth to get to within a run.
For Allegany, Jerry Lloyd had three singles and knocked in a run. Adam Delauter had a two-run single, while Cody Young and A.J. Czap both had two singles with Young scoring two runs.
Allegany (28-17 overall and 16-8 in the Maryland JUCO) will be involved in the play-in games for the Region XX Tournament beginning Saturday.
