PSC's Healey wins Big Stick Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Potomac State College sophomore Jacke Healey, already named second-team All-American, has won the Eastern District Rawlings Big Stick Award.

Rawlings, in conjunction with the National Junior College Athletic Association, honors annually the hitter that posts the highest regular season batting average in the NJCAA Division I districts.

Healey, of Tunkhannock, Pa., is the third Potomac State hitter to win the Big Stick Award, the others being Jeff Miller in 2004 and J.T. Osburn in 2005.

Healey led Potomac State in home runs (11), runs scored (52) and slugging percentage (.823), and finished the season hitting .456 with a team-high 28 extra-base hits. He slugged .823, had a .526 on-base percentage and was 9 for 11 in stolen bases.

Healey ranked second on the team with a career-best 67 hits while starting all 45 games at shortstop. He had a .935 fielding percentage with 54 putouts and 118 assists.

Healey will be continuing his career next season at Youngstown (Ohio) State University. He is spending his summer playing in the Shenandoah Valley League for the Waynesboro Generals.
