Frostburg State swept by Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Lake Erie put up 27 runs in two games in an 11-6, 16-1 sweep of Frostburg State in their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference twinbill Saturday afternoon.
Katie Puda had an outstanding pair of games for Lake Erie (9-7, 6-0) going 7-for-7 with eight RBIs, six runs scored, two home runs, a double and a triple.
In the first game, Puda belted a three-run homer and Mary Beth Hoagland hit a two-run shot to lead Lake Erie.
Brooke Tapman had a two-run single and Meghan Dabkowski an RBI single for Frostburg State (6-10, 0-2). Katelyn Coffey suffered her second straight loss, allowing all 11 runs on 14 hits in six innings.
In the second game, the Storm used a 10-run third to blow open a 4-0 lead. The game was shortened to five innings.
Besides Puda's four RBIs, Shaina Vanderpool, Katie Staats and Haley Shinkle drove in a pair. Hoagland accented the third inning with her second home run of the day, a two-run shot.
Amanda Baldwin doubled and scored on a single by Kaitlyn Wagner to account for the Frostburg State run.
Kelly Callan absorbed the loss after giving up 16 runs, 12 earned, in 3 2-3 innings.
Frostburg State plays a doubleheader at Penn State Altoona on Tuesday.
