FSU sweeps Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. - Kaitlyn Wagner pounded out six hits and pitcher Katelyn Coffey allowed just five hits in a game-one shutout as Frostburg State swept Mount Aloysius, 12-0 and 9-4, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheaderTuesday afternoon.
Wagner finished the pair of games 6-for-8 with four RBIs and two runs while Lindsay Freitag was 5-for-8 with four runs scored for Frostburg State (11-4, 3-5 AMCC).
In the opener, Coffey tossed her fifth shutout, scattering five hits and striking out two. The Bobcats led 4-0 after three innings, then added three more in the fifth and five in the seventh for the 12-0 win.
Wagner was 4-for-4 while Freitag was 2-for-4. Amanda Baldwin was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, Brooke Tapman was 2-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBIs and Lindsay Durkin was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
In the second game, the Bobcats built an 8-0 lead after two innings.
Kelly Callan earned a complete-game win, striking out two and allowing all four runs.
Freitag was 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Samantha Quirin was 2-for-5 with two runs and Kelly Filipowicz 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
Frostburg State hosts Pitt-Greensburg today for a doubleheader at 3 o'clock.
