Samantha Quirin smacked three home runs, including a grand slam, and broke the Frostburg State single-season record for round-trippers as the Bobcats split an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Hilbert.
Hilbert won the first game 15-10 and Frostburg took the second 14-5.
Quirin, a sophomore, finished the day 5-for-10 with three homers and eight runs batted in. With seven homers on the year, she broke the former school record of six set by Sarah Gentile in 1997 and matched by Trish Brown in 2004.
The twinbill turned into a slugfest as the teams combined for 25 runs and 34 hits in the opener nd 19 runs and 22 hits in the nitecap.
In the opener, Hilbert (8-26, 2-14 AMCC) scored in every inning.
Quirin hit her grand slam in the opener, and was 2-for-5. Amanda Baldwin was 3-for-5 and Brooke Tapman 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Frostburg (15-19, 8-8).
In the second game, Quirin was 3-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs.
The Bobcats led 6-0 after three innings and, after Hilbert got to within 7-4, outscored the Hawks 7-1 over the final two innings of the six-inning game.
Katelyn Coffey got the win, her 11th of the year, and struck out six.
Kaitlyn Wagner was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and her first career home run. Victoria Krichbaum was 3-for-3 and Tapman 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Frostburg State hosts Penn State Behrend in its conference finale at 2 p.m.
