Cats roar back for win

KEYSER, W.Va. - Morgan Mitchell hit a grand slam and Lindsey Twigg hurled a four-hitter as Potomac State knocked off nationally-ranked Hagerstown, 7-4, in the second game of their college softball doubleheader on Sunday.
It was just the second loss of the year for Hagerstown, the Maryland JUCO regular-season champion and No. 14 in the NJCAA Division II poll.
The Hawks (20-2) led 2-1 through 3 1/2 innings before Potomac State (21-13) erupted for five runs in the fourth.
Twigg led off with a double and, after Ashley Metcalfe reached on an error, scored on a single by Michelle Cain. After Samantha Patton reached on an error to load the bases, Mitchell cleared them with her homer, giving the Catamounts a 6-2 lead.
Brittany Wright homered on the first pitch of the sixth inning to make it 7-2.
Twigg went the distance and allowed only four hits. She walked four and struck out three.
Metcalfe and Twigg led Potomac State at the plate with a double and single each.
The Hawks won the first game 19-4, scoring 15 runs in its final two at-bats.
Samantha Koehl, Brittany Main and Jess Patsy hit home runs for Hagerstown.
Wright doubled and singled, Cain doubled and Ashly Sites singled twice for the Catamounts, who host Cecil on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
