FSU’s Tapman named to all-region team

STARKVILLE, Mass. — Frostburg State outfielder Brooke Tapman, who broke eight school records during her sophomore season, was named to the Lousville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region team.

Tapman was named to the Atlantic Region first team, the first selection for an FSU player since Amanda Baldwin in 2006, and the fourth in school history.

Tapman, who led Frostburg State to a 26-18 record and a spot in the ECAC South Tournament, set the school record for career home runs in just two years, with 21. She also set single-season records for games (44), runs scored (42), hits (58), home runs (15), RBIs (43), extra-base hits (26) and total bases (118).

Also first-team Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, Tapman led the conference in hits, runs, RBIs, home runs and total bases.

For the season, she batted .443 with a .901 slugging percentage and a .519 on-base percentage.
