CUMBERLAND — Dr. David S. Hijab, who was born and raised in Cumberland, has opened a practice, Western Maryland Dentistry, at 13106 Winchester Road in LaVale.

Hijab is the son of Joanne Hijab of LaVale and the late Dr. Wally S. Hijab. He was born at Sacred Heart Hospital and graduated from Bishop Walsh High School in 1990.

He received a degree in molecular biology from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa. In 2000, Hijab graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and became a Doctor of Dental Surgery.

He completed his residency in general practice at St. Luke’s Medical Center/St. Vincent’s Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. There, Hijab trained in hospital, including operating room and emergency dentistry, as well as general dentistry.

Hijab has been in private practice for the past five years. As a member of both Sacred Heart and Memorial Hospital staffs, Hijab said he strives to provide each patient with the best available dental treatment, allowing them to make informed decisions about their dental health.
