Some of our leaders have helped us in more than one way

We in Allegany County have so much to be proud of. We have an effective mayor and city council as well as effective county commissioners. Several of these young officials would be good in Annapolis.

Some of them and others have taken small business and made them successful. They have contributed to our economy. The citizens need to learn how these people have helped Allegany County.

I am happy that some businesses are using their advertising to encourage us to treat each other better. In a recent newspaper, Hobo’s Restaurant urged people to treat others the way they would want to be treated. Nelson’s automotive dealership quotes C.S. Lewis in its cable ad. The Nelson ad encourages us to avoid actions that are selfish and unkind.

I have lived in the 400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for 92 years. I am proud of the people in this neighborhood who worked hard to raise their children to be loyal American citizens.

I am very proud of them and all the people in Allegany County. We should remember all they have done for us.
