To the Editor:
I am not an NFL fan, and am certainly not a Baltimore Ravens fan. (I played rugby).
But I did notice in the AFC playoffs and Super Bowl football games Mr. Ray Lewis standing dutifully, with his hand over his heart, singing along to the National Anthem. At the end, he was unashamedly crying. I’ve read that Mr. Lewis is a deeply religious person.
In my opinion he is so grateful to grow up in this wonderful country and have the right to attend free public schools, then succeed at your chosen profession (at which he’s obviously been really excellent — even with injuries).
I’m sure that I’m not the only American to feel this way.
