FROSTBURG — Chuck Dicken, program director and acting station director for Frostburg State University’s WFWM public radio station, has been named station director following a competitive search process, it was announced by Bernard J. Davisson II, FSU vice president for University Advancement.

“Chuck has been involved with WFWM for over 17 years, both as a volunteer and as a member of the professional staff,” Davisson said. “In the months he served as acting director, he further demonstrated his creativity and commitment to the station's outreach efforts in this capacity. We look forward to his continued contributions to our campus and broader community.”

Dicken’s goals for the station include broadening the input the station receives from its listeners. “One of my clear priorities is to increase participation in WFWM from both the local and the university communities,” Dicken said. “I would like to hear more local voices and interests represented on the station.”

Dicken, who has been employed with WFWM since 1998, is also an adjunct instructor in the department of mass communication. He has been active in a number of local music and cultural initiatives, most recently helping to organize the Roots Music Series that began in 2005.

Listener-supported WFWM broadcasts a variety of news, cultural and musical programs and is a National Public Radio affiliate station. WFWM broadcasts at 91.9 FM in Frostburg and at 96.3 FM in Oakland.
