SWANTON — Edward F. Suit, 79, of Dry Run Road, Swanton, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.

Born on March 23, 1927, in Charlottesville, Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence and Hilda (Highlander) Suit.

He retired as the service manager for Fred Beck Auto Dealership, Laurel, and was a mechanic and state auto inspector. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Dorcas V. (Uber) Suit; four daughters, Gretchen Rush, McHenry, Deborah Van Stratum, Tallahassee, Fla., Re-becca Kuhn, Ellicott City, and Elaine Cunningham, Hagerstown; two sisters, Dorothy Miller, College Park, and Shirley O’Brien, Crofton; sev-en grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, June 18, 2006, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Shimer officiating.

Interment will be in the Uber-Fazenbaker Cemetery, Swanton.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans’ organizations in southern Garrett County.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Garrett County Chapter, American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
