PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Lt. Derek John Davies and Rachel Ayne Armentrout, along with their families, are pleased to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
Rachel is the daughter of the late Richard and Linda Armentrout of Keyser, W.Va.
Derek is the son of John and Judith Davies of Elma, N.Y.
Rachel is a 2000 graduate of Keyser High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in public health studies in 2004 from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate of medicine in 2008 from Case Western Reserve University. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and will complete a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2014.
Derek is a 2000 graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, N.Y. He received a bachelor of arts degree in neuroscience in 2004 from Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate of medicine in 2009 from Albany Medical College. He completed a transitional internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, was selected for flight training, and served as flight surgeon for a United States Marine Corps squadron, completing a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2011. He is currently serving as a resident in emergency medicine at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He is in his fifth year of active duty with the United States Navy.
An April 2014 wedding is being planned in Williamsburg, Va.
