Mullan, England engagement

— LAVALE — Mr. and Mrs. James Mullan of LaVale are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Tyler Marie Mullan, to James Hamilton England, son of Mary Marshall Davant England, of Jackson, Miss., and the late James England.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of John L. Mullan and the late Marie Mullan and also Jean Phillips and the late David L. Phillips, all of LaVale.

A 2006 graduate of Allegany High School, Tyler went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in biology and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from McDaniel College, Westminster, in 2010. Upon graduating from McDaniel College she then went on to earn a master of fine arts degree from American University, Washington, D.C., in May 2012.

She is currently employed as a 10th-grade physical science teacher at Western Harnett High School in Lillington, N.C.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of Marcie DeWitt Davant and June Miller England, both of Mississippi. James received a bachelor’s degree in 2008 in insur-ance/risk management and personal finance from Mississippi State. James is currently a first lieutenant with the 82nd Airborne Division — 1st Brigade Combat Team stationed in Fayetteville, N.C. James just recently returned from serving our country in Afghanistan.

The bride-to-be was recently honored with a bridal shower given by Tessa Mullan, maid of honor and her bridesmaids. The shower took place at the Women’s Civic Center on Washington Street in Cumberland.

The wedding will take place on April 27, 2013, at the 1812 Hitching Post in Harmony, N.C. Invitations are being sent.
