Big Band Sound

The Cumberland Area All-Star High School Big Band, featuring students from Allegany, Boonsboro, Frankfort, Mountain Ridge, Musselman and Smithsburg high schools, practice for a Friday performance at Windsor Hall. In the first row, from left, are Tristan Stevens, Owen Funck, Brad Reynold and Elizabeth Radcliffe. In row two, same order, are Erin Kittle, Timothy Show and David Adams. In back are Gerald Hildenbrand, Chris George and Evan Schultz. Their performance kicked off the 2008 Jazz Weekend in downtown Cumberland presented by the Cumberland Jazz Society. Curtis Johnson, a renowned rhythm and blues performer, was the guest director. The James Moore Quartet will play at the Holiday Inn today at 8 p.m., followed by Bop Goes the Weasels Big Band at 10:30 p.m.
