The Short Gap Lions Club will host a free concert provided by the Frankfort Middle School Steel Drum Ensemble as a fund raising activity for the West Virginia Lions Campaign SightFirst II program.
The event will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at Frankfort High School, Short Gap, W.Va.
The popular 11-member Teal Steel drum band has performed for audiences at concerts, festivals and special events throughout the area during the 2007-2008 school year.
Under the direction of Rodger Henry and Fred Kesner, back row, members of the 2007-2008 band are: Kaylynd Frazier and Stephanie Mace, leads; Felica Seeders and Karalee Geis, double seconds; Devin Burke and Gracie Parzych, triple guitars;Tyler Detrick and Jordon Dunn, six bass; and Cameron Spence, Sarah Kidwell, Trae Miller and Sarah Moreland, engine room.
The band features Carribbean- and Latin-style music, as well as pop tunes, classic rock and folk music.
The event is open to the public and donations will be accepted to support the Campaign SightFirst II.
