Carnival returning to Canal Place May 21

CUMBERLAND - There is no need to go far for fun this spring when it is right in your own backyard, as the Canal Place carnival returns to the festival grounds May 21 through May 26.

Residents can celebrate this warm weather family favorite when Canal Place welcomes Gambill Amusements back to Cumberland for six fun-filled days of rides, games and food.

A newer, bigger Ferris wheel will provide the perfect bird's-eye view of all the fun below.

"Gather up the kids, bring your sweetie, or just bring yourself and relive your youth upside down on the Zero Gravity with a corn dog chaser and a face full of pink cotton candy," said an event planner.

Visitors to the carnival may purchase an armband, which provides for unlimited rides during specified dates and times. Children less than 50 inches tall are only permitted on kiddie rides, while the major rides accommodate those more than 50 inches tall. Visitors also have the option of purchasing ride tickets. Two tickets are required for kiddie rides and three tickets for the major rides. Visitors can save money by purchasing a group of 20 tickets.

The carnival will run May 21 and 22 from 6 to 10 p.m., May 23, 24 and 25 from 1 to 5 and 6 to 11 p.m., and May 26 from 1 to 5 p.m.
