Season’s second Saturday Arts Walk this weekend

Downtown Cumberland’s Arts & Entertainment District will host the second Saturday Arts Walk of the season tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Arts Walks are community events that create a special occasion to wander through the downtown area and enjoy gallery openings, live music, performance art, hands-on art projects on the Arts Bus, and the city’s shops, restaurants and pubs.

While some of the evening performances may require the purchase of tickets, most activities are free, and many participating venues offer special discounts to Arts Walk participants.

Brochures for the event, which include a map and list of all the evening’s activities and offerings, are available from the more than 35 participating Arts Walk destinations in and around downtown Cumberland and Canal Place.

Copies also may be obtained at the Allegany Arts Council’s new headquarters at 9 N. Centre St., which features the Saville Gallery for art and multiuse performing arts space, and downloaded at www.alleganyartscouncil.org.

Other Saturday Arts Walks are scheduled for Sept. 6 and Oct. 25.
