Bop Goes the Weasels to perform

CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Jazz Society Big Band Bop Goes the Weasels will perform at the Constitution Park amphitheater on Sunday starting at 7:30 p.m. as part of the “Sunday in the Park” free concert series.
The band’s repertoire includes Freddie the Freeloader and Four by Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie’s A Night in Tunisia, Cute by the late Neal Hefti and Mike Tomaro’s arrangement of One Note Samba.
Standards include My Foolish Heart, Emily, the TV theme from MASH and contemporary Latin and Jazz arrangements from Gordon Goodwin, Jon Fedchock and more.
On saxophones are Bill Green, Roger Henry, Rich Norwood, Charlie Paskun and Mike Pfaff.
The trombone section is made up of Ken Davis, Brian Plitnik, Lynn Zeller and Brian Bowers.
On trumpets are Johnny Leonard, Jay Moon, Bill AuMiller and Ethan Sagin.
The rhythm section includes Larry Jackson on piano, Marc Lawrence on drums and Tom Harrison on bass.
Thanks to sponsors First Peoples Community Federal Credit Union, Papa John’s Pizza, Allegany Arts Council and the Cumberland Department of Parks & Recreation, the show is free and open to everyone. Patrons can bring an old blanket or some lawn chairs for the grassy hill in front of the band shell.
