FROSTBURG — WFWM 91.9 FM, National Public Radio from Frostburg State University, in cooperation with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, will present “Live at the Depot,” a series of live old-time radio shows at the historic Old Depot in Frostburg.
The shows will feature 15-minute performances by local roots music bands and musicians. Chuck Dicken, WFWM station director, will serve as emcee. The performances will be recorded by WFWM for broadcast on the station at a later date. The Frostburg State University mass communications department will also be videotaping each show for use on the WFWM Web site and for possible television play.
“Live At The Depot” will take place on each Friday in September between 12:30 and 2 p.m., while the scenic railroad’s train is at the depot. Train passengers and the general public were invited to attend the recordings for free.
New musicians participating in this year’s “Live At The Depot” include 11-year-old fiddler Hanna Livingston from Frostburg, old-time Appalachian musicians Fritz Kessler and Jason Twigg and Amy Fabbri and Amanda Barger, as well as Bear Hill Bluegrass from Moorefield, W.Va.
Returning performers include Highland Grass, Short Mountain String Band, Black Diamond, and Greg Latta. The “Live at the Depot” shows are supported in part by the Allegany Arts Council and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
