ROCKY GAP — Bluegrass music will return to Rocky Gap State Park on Oct. 10, with a festival featuring seven entertainers in the park’s amphitheater. The music will begin at 4 p.m., with gates opening at 3:30 p.m.

Sunflower Fest, a first-time event, features Washington-based Scythian, voted D.C.’s Best Band of 2009 by Washington City Paper.

Scythian features a bluegrass sound, fused with Celtic and rock sounds. Also featured will be Blueground Undergrass from Atlanta; Albannach, a tribal pipe and drum band from Scotland; Holy Ghost Tent Revival from Greensboro, N.C., a band famous for mixing bluegrass and punk music; The Morning Pages, a rock and bluegrass band out of Brooklyn; and singer Rebecca Jean Smith, a “honky tonk funk” musician from Atlanta.

The festival will feature food and drink vendors on site. Children under 12 will be admitted for free and students with current student IDs will be admitted at a reduced rate. Tickets purchased in advance are discounted over those bought at the gate. Performances will last until 11 p.m.

Tickets are currently available online at www.sunflowerfest.net. Additional information about the concert is also available on the concert Web site.
