Cumberland — The first three pieces of a new sculpture garden in the Frostburg Arts and Entertainment District will be dedicated during a ceremony scheduled July 16 at 1 p.m. The garden is located along the switchback between the Frostburg Depot and the Great Allegheny Passage trailhead. The project represents a collaboration among a number of tourism-related entities, including the Allegany Arts Council, FrostburgFirst Main Street Program, Trail Town Program and Mountain Maryland Trails, as well as the FSU Visual Arts Department and the city of Frostburg. The centerpiece sculpture is more than 20 feet tall and was designed with a bicycle theme to resonate with the users of the trail, and to entice them off the trail and toward the Frostburg business district. Three additional bases have been installed, which the groups hope to eventually use for additional sculptures when funding becomes available.
