Frostburg Museum featuring work of Cincinnati artist

Amalgamations on display through end of month

Frostburg — FROSTBURG — The Frostburg Museum will present Amalgamations, an exhibition by Bekka Sage from Cincinnati, through July 30. The museum will host a reception for the artist on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Sage is a magna cum laude graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. During her college career, she spent her first two years at UC’s College Conservatory of Music studying set/theater design, lighting, sound and costume and makeup design/production. These studies intensified her passion for art, creative construction, film and video.

Working as a graphic designer in the daytime and a painter at night, Bekka is inundated with thousands of images, symbols and shapes. In the past, she always tried to compartmentalize the two professions, being especially careful that one aesthetic might not leak into the other.

Eventually, the walls crumbled down and the results are Amalgamations of the two worlds. The paintings Sage will be exhibiting are bold combinations of lines, gradients, icons, shapes and textures crashing together into one finalized image.

The Frostburg Museum is a non-profit organization located at the corners of Hill and Oak Streets in the growing arts and entertainment district of Frostburg. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 to 5 pm., and admittance is free.

For more information, call 301-689-1195 or email FrostburgMuseum@Verizon.net. The Museum is also on the web at FrostMuseum.Allconet.org and now on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
