Yoga intro offered in free ACM class

One-hour session Aug. 6

Cumberland — CUMBERLAND — Allegany College of Maryland invites those who are curious about yoga, but have never tried it, to a free one-hour introduction to yoga class on Aug. 6.

The session is from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Continuing Education Building. There is no charge, but attendees must pre-register by calling 301-784-5528 or 301-784-5592.

“There are a lot of people in the community who think they’d like to try yoga, but don’t want to commit to a series of classes,” said Christi Bonello, a veteran yoga instructor who will lead the class.

“They can come to this free Saturday event and get a taste of what yoga is about.”

Bonello frequently hears individuals who say they think they can’t do the yoga poses.

“But everyone works at their own level,” she said. “Yoga isn’t a competition. It’s an internal exercise, and everyone can achieve their own goals.”

Participants should wear appropriate comfortable clothing. Yoga mats will be available. The deadline to register is July 29.

ACM offers yoga classes starting in the fall, including one for absolute beginners only. For more information call 301-784-5526.
