Local author Riggs to sign copies of novel

Frostburg — FROSTBURG — Local author Rory Shane Riggs will sign copies of his novel “Song of the Red Sparrow Book One” at Main Street Books, 2 E. Main St., Saturday, July 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.

In the tradition of “Cold Mountain,” “Gone With the Wind” and “Lonesome Dove,” “Song of the Red Sparrow Book One” is the first installment in a planned trilogy that traces an epic story from Western Maryland at the end of the Civil War to a small isolated frontier town.

While Book One is being published this year, Book Two and Book Three will follow in subsequent years. Published by iUniverse, the 325-page novel is available in both collector’s edition hard cover and user-friendly soft cover paperback.

The former editor of Allegany Magazine, Riggs is also the author of the successfully produced plays ‘Confessions from the Ladies Room,” “Faceful of Mama” and “The Marie Defense.”
