Tri-State Concert Association announces lineup for 2009

CUMBERLAND - The Tri-State Concert Association has come up with another great six-show Rock 'n' Roll concert series featuring 10 performances by legendary entertainers of the 1950s and '60s.

Opening the season on Jan. 10 is Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge along with local favorites, Chinese Bandits. Maestro and the Bridge's history spans from 1960s mega hit "16 Candles" with the Crests to the 1968 hit "Worse That Could Happen."

Feb. 7 brings to town Pittsburgh's Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners and The Marcels. The Skyliners hit the charts in 1958 with "Since I Don't Have You" among many other hits. Also hailing from Pittsburgh, The Marcells will get the crowd rocking singing their signature hit, "Blue Moon."

The Four Preps come to the area March 14. The Preps first of many hits was "26 miles" (the Santa Catalina song). Joining the Preps will be the hit making group The Chordettes. Fans of the 1950's will hear the Cordette's hits "Mr Sandman," "Lollipop" and "Never on a Sunday."

On April 4, Elvis' original back up group The Jordanaires return to Cumberland to take center stage. This unique show will feature The Jordanaires singing their Gospel hits from yesterday and today. Highlighting the evening is Matt Lewis and his Tribute to Elvis. Matt come here from The Imperial Palace in Las Vegas and will be performing many of Elvis' hits accompanied by the Jordanaires. This promises to be a memorable evening.

The Legends of Rock 'n' Roll resumes Sept. 19 featuring two legendary girl groups, The Chiffons and The Crystals. Audiences will hear the '60s hits "He's So Fine," "One Fine Day" and The Crystals' "Ad Do Ron Ron," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and "He's a Rebel."

Concluding the 2009 season on Oct. 10 will be regional favorite Phil Dirt and the Dozers. The Dozers are one of the most sought after and entertaining groups on the East Coast. Singing the hits of the 1950s to the '70s, Phil Dirt and the Dozers cover songs from artists such as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons to Roy Orbison and The Eagles.

All shows are at the Allegany High School auditorium, which has recently been outfitted with cushioned seats from the former Beall High School.

All seats are reserved, and season tickets can be purchased by calling the concert call center at (301) 759-0580, or by visiting TWR Tickets at 549 N. Centre St., Cumberland, during regular business hours.
