For the Cumberland Times-News

CUMBERLAND - Tickets remain available for Tri-State Concert Association's 2008 Legends of Rock 'n' Roll series. Six shows featuring the best of rock 'n' roll's musical legends kicks off Jan. 12, 2008, with the "Ricky Nelson Remembered" Tour featuring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson & The Stone Canyon Band.

They bring to Cumberland their multimedia tribute to their father. Performing also will be Ricky Nelson's original Stone Canyon Band.

Feb. 9, 2008, will bring the New Joey Dee and the Starlighters show. Dee, best known for the '50s hit "Peppermint Twist," returns to Cumberland with new members and an all new stage show. Joining the Starlighters will be the Dovells. The Dovells' signature tune of the rock 'n' roll era was the "Bristol Stomp."

Legendary performer Johnny Tillotson will be on stage March 8, 2008. TIllotson had more than 14 top 40 hits from both the rock 'n' roll and country charts. His hits include "Poetry In Motion," "Talk Back Tremblin' Lips" and "It Keeps Right on A' Hurtin." This great night of music also will include the Shangri-las. The group's hits include "The Leader of the Pack" and "Walking in the Sand (Remember)."

Bobby Rydell takes the stage on April 5, 2008, and brings his signature songs "Wild One" and "Kissing Time" to the Cumberland area. Rydell, another "teen idol," has had six top 10 hits and 14 top 20 hits. Rydell shares the stage with Ron Dante, lead singer of the 1960s group The Archies. Dante led the Archies on "Yummy Yummy Yummy" and "Sugar, Sugar."

September bring the soft harmonies of The Duprees. The Duprees are best known for "You Belong to Me" and "My Own True Love" among many others. 2008 Rock 'n' Roll Legends concludes with the Fabulous Hubcaps in October 2008.

"Legends 2008" will feature six shows and nine of the top touring entertainers from the 1950s and '60s. A limited number of tickets for next season remain available. All concerts are on Saturday evenings at the newly renovated Allegany High School auditorium.
