JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - David "Joke" Marshall Gallagher, 74, of Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Midland, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C.
Born Jan. 17, 1934, in Midland, he was the son of the late Vincent Gallagher and Kate (Preston) Gallagher.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Angela (Wilson) Gallagher.
He was retired from home building and construction
He is survived by his wife, Mary Christine (Dye) Gallagher, of Jacksonville, N.C.; one son, Michael Gallagher and Diane, of Midland; four daughters, Vickie Miller, Kimmy Myer and husband Bill, Pam Gallagher, and Melissa Robinette and husband Jim, all of Midland; five stepchildren, Henry Woods and wife Kim, Chris Woods, Clara Kinney and husband Darrel, and Faith Schmitt and husband Dennis, all of Jacksonville, N.C.; twenty-one grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eleven stepgrandchildren; seventeen stepgreat-grandchildren; one bro-ther, Raymond Gallagher, of Cumberland; three sisters, Irma Blubaugh, of Midland, Helen Kepes, of Perry, Ohio, and Pat Rowe and husband Pete, of Frostburg.
Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (eichhorn-mckenziefh.com), Midland on Saturday, May 3, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home, Midland, following the receiving of family and friends, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Andrew Droll officiating.
Interment will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Midland.
