Jane (Chappell) Radcliffe [Anaheim Hills]

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. - Jane Chappell Radcliffe, 75, of Anaheim Hills, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 4, 2008.

Jane was born in Barton, Md., on March 13, 1933 to William and Philomena Chappell. The family moved to Cumberland, Md., where Jane grew up with her younger brothers, Jack and Bill.

Jane went to Cumberland Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1954. She married Jim Radcliffe in 1955 and the couple moved to Santa Ana, Calif. They had three sons, Jim, Craig and Keith. In 1973, Jim, Jane and the boys moved to Orange, Calif.

Jane worked for several hospitals in Orange County including Doctors Hospital, Santa Ana Community Hospital and Western Medical Center, where she became Director of Nurses. She went back to college, graduating from Chapman University in Orange with a bachelor's degree in Health Science in 1982.

Jane's greatest joy was her family. She took good care of all of them and made sure they knew how important each of them was to her. As the family grew, she included her daughters-in-law as her own. Jane was the center of the Radcliffe family, happily hosting birthday and holiday parties every year. She took great pride in keeping a beautiful home and lush garden.

Retirement gave Jane the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Europe with husband Jim.

Jane was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her upbeat outlook on life gave strength to her family. She will be greatly missed.

Jane is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim; her sons, Jim (Jan), Craig (Barbara) and Keith (Lori); grandchildren, Sarah, Randi, Mari, Andrew, Brett and Mika; brothers, Bill (Peg) and Jack (Sharon); four nieces; and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4101 E. Nohl Ranch Rd., Anaheim, on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10 a.m.

Brown Colonial Mortuary in Santa Ana is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
