Audra C. Hahn [Westminster]
WESTMINSTER - Audra Claire Hahn, 80, of Westminster, died May 13, 2008 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.
She was born Aug. 28, 1927 in Cumberland, the daughter of the late Harvey H. and Nellie G. Hershberger Speicher. She was the wife of the late James C. Hahn who died in July 2000. She was also predeceased by her son, James C. Hahn Jr.; and brother, William R. Speicher.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Westminster and she served the church in many ways including being a deacon and elder. She attended Western Maryland College for two years and studied Home Economics. She helped establish the first non-profit daycare in Carroll County and served on the board for 20 years. She served as first chairperson for the blood drive at St. Paul's U.C.C. Church and also for the food kitchen. She served as the representative for the church to Timber Ridge and taught Sunday School. She worked in the community in a variety of ways including Carroll Garden Club, Women's Club of Westminster where she was secretary for one year, Cancer Society of Carroll County and was a 4-H Leader. For many years she was the chairperson for decorating Carroll County Hospital for Christmas. She was an accomplished seamstress and looked forward to her crafts at the Mistletoe Mart at Ascension Episcopal Church. She enjoyed working in her garden, entertaining and liked to travel.
She is survived by daughters, Deborah E. Lawrence of Hanover, Pa. and Carolyn Beth Marable of Gaithersburg; brothers, Robert H. Speicher of Grantsville and Charles O. Speicher of Laurel; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Bond and Green sts., Westminster, on Saturday at noon with the Rev. Marty Kuchma officiating.
Interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery will be private.
