Verna F. Benson [Ridgeley]

RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Verna Florence Benson, 85, of Ridgeley, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at The Lions Center.

Born Jan. 9, 1923 in Upper Milford, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alvin C. and Florence K. (Gabel) Dreas. She was also preceded in death by her siblings and a grandson, William Benson.

Mrs. Benson had worked as a waitress in Silver Spring, Md. She returned to the area and spent the last several years residing with her son.

Survivors include her two sons, Dr. A. Thomas Benson and wife Helen, with whom she resided in Ridgeley and Bernard Paul Benson and wife Dottie, Athens, Ala.; five grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
