Flora Edith Ambrose, 91, of Cumberland, passed away, Thursday, July 17, 2008 at New Hope Assisted Living Center.
Born Jan. 7, 1917 in Cumberland, she was the daughter on the late Thomas Heaps and Lula (Barnes) Heaps Pillon. Also preceding her in death was her step-father, Ernest Pillon; husband, Henry J. James Ambrose in 1994; and two sisters, Elizabeth Heaps and Irene Gulich.
Mrs. Ambrose was a former employee of Ben Franklin’s Store in South Cumberland and former employee of Nixon’s Market. She was a member of Emmanuel Bethel-United Methodist Church, the Mitzpah Sunday School class and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara J. Dicken, with whom she resided; a grandson, Ronald L. Dicken; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland (scarpellifh.com) on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn Cappachione officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
