Elsie H. Chipley [Moorefield]

Elsie Halterman Chipley, 84, of Moorefield, passed this life on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, W.Va.

Born on May 12, 1924 in Rig, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jehu Jonathan Halterman and Ersula Simmons Halterman.

Mrs. Chipley was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Baker Chipley Jr.; eight sisters; and five brothers.

Mrs. Chipley is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Barr of Wardensville, W.Va.; one son, Michael Chipley of Petersburg; two sisters, Josephine Bensenhaver of Rig and Wade Bean of Moorefield; one brother, Ferguson Halterman of Moorefield. She is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Chipley was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church.
