HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — Mildred E. Craze, 86, of Harpers Ferry, formerly of Frostburg, Md., died Aug. 27, 2008 at home after a short illness while under the care of Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle.
Born Dec. 18, 1921 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Zarger.
She was a homemaker and retired from Sears in LaVale, Md. in 1980.
She is survived by sons, James R. Craze and wife Celia, Davidsonville, Md. and Richard D. Craze and wife Shirley, Harpers Ferry; a daughter, Deborah A. Manowski and husband Vernon, Glen Burnie, Md.; a beloved niece, Susan P. Winner and husband Tommy, Frostburg; grandchildren, Stacey Manowski, Baltimore, James Craze and wife Cheree, Severna Park, Md., Aimee Craze, Washington, D.C., Jonna Atkinson, Prince Frederick, Md., Jeffrey Craze and wife Janet, Owings, Md., Jason Craze and wife Lisa, Herndon, Va.; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; her husband, Lawrence, J. “Billie” Craze, Frostburg; and her eldest son, John L. Craze, Forestville, Md.
She was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church for over 60 years. While living with her son in Harpers Ferry, she attended Camp Hill United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at Eackles, Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, on Sept. 4, 2008 at 6 p.m. with Pastor Luther Osment, Camp Hill United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry, presiding.
A graveside service will follow at Frostburg Memorial Garden, Frostburg, at a later date with Pastor Rebecca Vardiman, Frostburg United Methodist Church presiding.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of a donation to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
