Eleanor V. (Squires) Leutert [Wiley Ford]

Cumberland Times-News

WILEY FORD, W.Va. — Eleanor Virginia (Squires) Leutert, 86, of Wiley Ford, died on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at the WMHS-Braddock Campus.

Born Dec. 13, 1922 in Cumberland, Md., Mrs. Leutert was the daughter of the late Warren Luther Squires and Rose Virginia (Sweitzer) Squires. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Paul Leutert, March 1987; a sister, Malvina Katherine “Sis” Squires; and three brothers, John Squires, Warren “Chestie” Squires and Richard Alan “Jackie” Squires; and one grandchild, Paul Richard Courtney.

A homemaker, Eleanor is survived by her son, Richard Alan Leutert and wife Delores, Cumberland; her daughter, Katherine Jayne (Leutert) Abe and husband Wallace, Slanesville, W.Va.; her sister, Jo Ann Barbe and husband Marshall, Short Gap, W.Va.; her sister-in-law, Shirley Squires, Ridgeley, W.Va.; her grandchildren, Traci (Leutert) Hedrick and husband Brad, New Orleans, La., Anjanette (Leutert) Richards and husband Mike, Cumberland, Lesli Leutert, Cumberland, Lori Ann (Courtney) Sosa and husband Jorge of Virginia, Michael Stephen Courtney, Camp LeJeune, N.C.; and her great-grandchildren, Randy Alan Hedrick, Mathew Paul Richards, Keith Andrew Hedrick, Zachary Michael Elbin, Diamond Dee Richards, Miliana Jaselle Hamilton, Derrick Michael Jennings, Seth Patrick Jennings, Eli Giovonni Sosa, Kirsten Micheala, Brett Jarrett, Chelsa Blair and Delaney Lorin Courtney.

Many friends and family will really miss Eleanor. She was huge fan of Fort Hill High School since 1937. Up until this year, she made her slow climb up to the top row of the bleachers to watch her team play. If it just so happened to be a grandchild or great grandchild on the field that would make it even better. She would talk about it for days and weeks and then watch it on tapes from Channel 20 over and over again. Just on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, she attended a game of her great-grandsons and was looking forward to homecoming. Now she will be attending with old friends and angels.

At her request, her body was donated to science.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
