FROSTBURG — A New York man wanted for robbery in that state was apprehended by Frostburg City Police on Monday afternoon after police received a tip that he was possibly in the area.

Troy Brown, 32, was apprehended as he walked out of the railroad tunnel at the Depot.

Police initially contacted Brown outside a Main Street business when he fled toward Center Street. He eventually entered the tunnel at Bowery Street with Sgt. Mike Sweitzer and Patrolman Nick Costello in pursuit.

Patrolman Daniel Dunn apprehended Brown at the tunnel at the Depot and arrested him without further incident.

Brown, who was also wanted in New York for violation of probation, remained in police custody at about 4:30 p.m., and was to be taken later to a district court commissioner for a bond hearing.

Frostburg State University Police and the Allegany County Sheriff's Office assisted. Frostburg Area Ambulance Service also responded.
