No. 4 Southern upsets No. 2 Frankfort, 46-32

SHORT GAP - Fourth-ranked Southern outscored No. 2 Frankfort 14-5 in the second period, and the Rams held the Falcons at bay the second half for an Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference victory.

Southern's Shayna Sweitzer scored a game best 17 points, and was the only scorer for either team to crack double figures.

Diane Dayton and Aira Whiteman scored eight points and had six rebounds apiece for the Falcons.

Southern held a slim 10-9 lead following one quarter, then stretched its advantage to 10 points at 24-14 by halftime. It was 35-23 after three quarters.

Anna Kifer and Claire Wilkinson scored 13 points in a 40-33 win for Southern in the jayvee game. Morghan Snyder had 10 for Frankfort.

Southern (11-3 overall, 6-3 AMAC) plays at county and AMAC rival Northern on Wednesday. Frankfort (9-4, 6-2) plays at Mountain Ridge this evening at 7:30.
