Hampshire upsets No. 3 Northern, 54-45

ROMNEY, W.Va. - Rana Conneway scored all 12 of her points in the fourth quarter to rally Hampshire past Northern in their Appalachian Mountain Athletic League game.

Hampshire (7-13, 5-7 AMAC) led 25-21 at halftime but Northern (13-4, 6-4) moved ahead in the third and took a 37-32 advantage into the fourth. The Trojans outscored the Huskies 22-8 over the final eight minutes for the victory.

Conneway hit five field goals, one being a three-pointer, and a foul shot for 12 fourth-quarter points. She also had three steals.

The Trojans went 9-for-13 from the free-throw line down the stretch.

Lesley Swisher had a team-high 17 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, and Cali Alkire added 11 points for Hampshire. Meggan Evans pulled in 10 rebounds, Johnna Buckley had seven points and six assists, and Kayla Fout five assists and five steals.

Kaitlynn Fratz scored a game-high 18 points for Northern. Megan Wiley had eight and Brittany Stein seven.

Hampshire won the jayvee game 43-40. Ashley Davis had 14 points for the Trojans and Terra McKenzie 22 for the Huskies.

Hampshire hosts Southern in a makeup game on Wednesday night. Northern will entertain Frankfort on Thursday night.
