No. 3 Frankfort edges No. 4 Northern, 68-66

ACCIDENT - Diane Dayton made nine of the 10 free throws she attempted during the fourth quarter as third-ranked Frankfort held on to its hopes of an Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference title by coming from behind in the fourth quarter to beat Northern in Accident.

Frankfort controlled much of the first half, holding a lead of 18-11 after one quarter and 38-33 at halftime. Northern took a 54-50 lead into the fourth, and went ahead 57-50 before the Falcons held the Huskies scoreless for four and a half minutes to take the lead for good.

Dayton finished with 16 points, and was 10-for-11 at the line all evening. Aira Whiteman scored a team-best 18 points, and Mariah Miller also had 16 points.

Northern was led by a 31-point effort from Kaitlynn Fratz. Fratz scored 23 of her points in the second and third quarters. Kasie Fratz scored nine points, and Justine Harvey finished with eight points and 16 rebounds.

Frankfort won a tight jayvee game 38-36. Savannah Hose and Morghan Snyder led Frankfort with 12 points each. Tara McKenzie and Morgan Brosnihan had 13 each for Northern.

Frankfort (11-5, 9-3) plays at Allegany on Saturday. If Allegany wins, it takes the AMAC championship. Northern (13-5, 6-5) will host Mountain Ridge on Monday.
