Fort Hill beats BW, 54-42

CUMBERLAND - Fort Hill climbed out to an eight-point lead over Bishop Walsh during the first quarter of Monday's matchup, and the Sentinels were able to maintain that distance for the last three quarters of a City League win.

Becky Miller scored 18 points in the win, leading all scorers in the process. Cassie Donahue finished with 15 points and six assists, and Lindsey Fisher added 10 points. Shari Beavers led the team with eight rebounds.

The Sentinels allowed the Spartans to score just four points in the first quarter, carrying a 12-4 lead into the second. Fort Hill led 20-11 at halftime, and 34-25 after the third.

Ashley Turnbull's 13 points was a team-high for BW. Abby Mathews added nine points.

Fort Hill won the junior varsity game 37-36. Andrea Armstrong scored 12 points, and Christina Stevens added 10 for Fort Hill. Abby Wolfe scored 13, and Alice Helmstetter had 10 for BW.

Bishop Walsh beat Fort Hill 50-30 on Jan. 3.

The Sentinels (4-14, 1-3) play Northern at home on Wednesday for Senior Night.

The Spartans (4-20, 1-2) plays at Southern on Wednesday.
