Mathews powers Alco over Ridge, 53-42

FROSTBURG - Jenna Mathews finished with a double-double, and Mountain Ridge was cold from the foul line in Allegany's 53-42 win over the Miners to end each team's regular season.

Mathews scored 13 points and grabbed 12 boards to lead the Campers. Katie Getty scored seven points and had six blocks and six rebounds. The Campers were helped by shooting 19-for-31 from the free throw stripe, while the Miners were 6-for-21, including just 1-of-14 during the first half.

Jenna Delaney recorded a double-double for the Miners by scoring a game-best 21 points, and adding 10 rebounds. Holly Williams and Maura Jones each had seven boards.

Heather Shipe scored 18 points to help Mountain Ridge to a 40-18 win in the jayvee game. Arneshia Ross scored six for the Campers.

Allegany (20-2) earned a first-round bye in the Maryland 1A West Playoffs as the No. 1 seed. The Campers will play the winner of Northern/Hancock on Monday at home.

Mountain Ridge (11-10) will play at Fort Hill on Friday.
