CUMBERLAND - Northern was the only local team to beat Allegany this season; a fact not lost on the Campers as they outscored the Huskies 30-17 in the fourth quarter of a 74-58 win in the Maryland 1A West Region Section semifinal.
The Campers move to 21-2 with the victory and will square-off with Southern on Wednesday, at Campobello, in the West Section finals.
Allegany led 44-41 going into the final quarter, and Elizabeth Getty scored all 10 of her points in the fourth to help propel the Campers. Brianna Twigg led Alco with 18 points, and DeTonia DeGross finished with 14 points, six assists, six rebounds and five steals. Katie Getty had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. Jenna Mathews scored 11 points, and Elizabeth Getty also added eight rebounds.
Allegany built a 18-9 lead after the first quarter, but the Huskies closed it to 30-25 by halftime.
Freshman Kaitlynn Fratz led all scorers with 25 points for Northern, and Megan Wiley had 10.
Allegany suffered its second loss of the season to the Huskies on Jan. 21 by a score of 43-36. The 36 points were a season low for the Campers, who have won 11 straight since then.
Northern concludes the season at 16-6.
